Due to COVID-19, people around the world have been staying at home and self-quarantining to help fight the proliferation of the virus.
We here at Visit Hachinohe have been thinking of ways to continue to share and introduce the culture of the Hachinohe Area while supporting and encouraging everyone to do their part.
That’s why we have decided to start a new series of web pages called Stay Home with Hachinohe. In this series, we will be sharing traditional recipes from the Hachinohe Area over the next few weeks that you can make in your own home. These recipes will transport your taste buds to northern Japan even if you can’t go there yourself right now.
Additionally, although the recipes are authentic and classic recipes from the Hachinohe Area, they will also offer alternative ingredient ideas or cooking methods, so that you can try these recipes no matter where you are in the world.
Many of these recipes are for local Hachinohe comfort foods that originally started as dishes to get people through hard times. We hope that they may bring some comfort to you and your family as well during these difficult times.
From all of us at Visit Hachinohe, we hope that everyone is safe, healthy, and happy.
