The Nango Museum of History and Folklore displays how the day-to-day lives of Japanese people living in the area changed over the course of the Showa era. Visitors can see exhibitions of materials, household appliances, and everyday items that are from the World War II period. The museum also has a reproduction of what the Nango area’s townscape looked like during this time period.
Visitors can also view an old country house that was moved from the Yomasari village to its current location next to the museum. The village was flooded when the Yomasari Dam in Nango was completed, but thanks to this house a snapshot of what life was like in the village before it was destroyed has been preserved.
The Museum also hosts monthly lectures on the history of the Nanbu region and classes on how to make traditional crafts.
