The Korekawa Jomon Museum is located next to the Korekawa Stone Age historic site. The institution collects and exhibits Buried Cultural Properties and conducts research about them.
The centerpiece of the exhibition is the Gassho clay figure from the Kazahari 1 site, which was unearthed in July 1989 and designated a National Treasure in July 2009. There are also exhibits of many excavated items, such as those painted with lacquer, showing the high level of craftsmanship in the Jomon era.
Every Sunday the Institute offers a variety of Jomon workshops, including fire-starting and pottery-making.
